Ground Breaking 2003

Murrieta Creek Phase I Groundbreaking Image
The US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) awarded the first of four phases of the Murrieta Creek Flood Control, Environmental Restoration and Recreation Project on September 30, 2003 to Oregon Mountain Constructors for $2.9 million. Phase I project extends from downstream of Old Town Temecula to just short of the First Street Bridge in the city of Temecula. Construction began on December 1, 2003 and is expected to be completed by September of 2004.

The Riverside County Flood Control District hosted a Ground Breaking ceremony on November 12th near the project site. About 150 guests attended this Ceremony. Among the guests were the Honorable John P. Woodley, Assistant Secretary of the Army - Civil Works, Congressman Ken Calvert, Congresswoman Mary Bono, State Senator Dennis Hollingsworth, Colonel Richard G. Thompson, District Engineer - U.S.Army Corps of Engineers, Dusty Williams, District General Manager - Chief Engineer, and Supervisor Bob Buster.
